Mr. Coffee ECM160 4-Cup Steam Espresso Machine User Review
January 26th, 2012 by org
We have had this particular machine for over a year. I have got tried other machines, even the pump. It makes good cappuccinos/lattes once the milk is steamed properly in the right temperatures. If the only in to espresso pictures, I would go with a pump motor.
PROS
-Inexpensive, Small
-Frother is strong, plastic tip is removable
-Quiet (then a pump machine)
-Latte artwork hearts (NOTICE picture)
CONS
-Supplied tamper is just a a bit flattened end of the coffee scooper.
-No frothing pitcher.
-Multiple pictures requires de-pressuring the device.
NOTES
There appears to be a large amount of reviews saying it operates fine at first then after a few years has poor performance or simply stops. Ive realized that during normal use, water starts to build up in the actual tank. This happens because you by no means really use all the water inside the tank for each brew. This excess water I really believe causes it to brew slow. What I actually do to alleviate this, is brew plain water almost all out in to a cup before I personally use it. This acts as both ridding the extra water and warm up the cup and also the machine. I furthermore vinegar descale for each instructions in order to find it makes it better.
Another thing to notice is how the bean grind/freshness is directly proportional to the effectiveness of the cleaner wand. If the actual beans tend to be old and/or too course the lake will brew from the coffee thus fast in which no pressure developed for the actual steamer wand to be effective. Likewise in the event the beans tend to be too great or the actual tamp way too hard, the water will have a hard time passing through the coffee and a lot of pressure will build up which isnt great either for this machine.
Also want to note I added a picture of the latte center I produced, just to be able to prove minimal latte artwork is fairly possible with this machine. Please visit here for more content
